Steve Jobs was surprisingly candid with All Things Digital’s Kara Swisher yesterday — he reportedly told her that both Facebook and Apple had spoken about integrating more closely with the new iTunes social network Ping , but Facebook asked for “onerous terms that we could not agree to” regarding Facebook friends connecting on Ping. Ars Technica got an Apple spokesperson to relay the bad news to those Apple hobbiests that, until last week, plucked down $229 for the former AppleTV: We confirmed with an Apple spokesperson that the maximum HD resolution of the Apple TV is 720p, consistent with recent rumors. Additionally, there will be  no software update to bring the new features to older Apple TVs. Older Apple TVs will continue to work as they have been working up to this...

iTunes 10 provides a different layout for the Close, Minimize and Maximize buttons. Instead of being ordered horizontally, in iTunes 10 they’re arranged vertically, like a traffic light. Reverting the buttons to a horizontal layout can easily be done. The iTunes Classic Visualizer is great. For starters, it keeps you interested, and it seems uncannily good at matching the mood of the visuals to the style of music. The new Visualizer style just doesn’t make sense to me — pulsating orbs? Anyway, the problem with the Classic Visualizer is that it would always force a low resolution on you when using full screen mode. I’m happy to point out that the Classic Visualizer in iTunes...
